Doorcy is best known as an online manager that allows users to control doors and lighting via the Doorcy app. However, Doorcy's capabilities extend far beyond that. For example, we have developed a digital reception desk based on our existing technologies. This smart solution can be used in multi-tenant buildings where there is no receptionist, for example. With the digital reception desk, visitors can indicate on a touchscreen that they are present for an appointment. Doorcy then sends a notification to the person with whom the visitor has an appointment, informing them that their appointment is present.
New features for the digital reception desk
The new feature of the digital reception is that the notification is not only sent via the Doorcy app, but also via a push notification and a text message. This push notification and text message act as a kind of doorbell. The recipient receives a notification on their phone, even if they have their notifications set to 'silent'. Thanks to the push notification or text message, people don't need to leave their phone on loud. This means they are not unnecessarily disturbed by other messages or calls. The push notification and text message are an extra service provided by Doorcy, which ensures that users are always aware of who is at their door. This allows them to quickly and easily welcome their visitors without having to constantly check their phone. The push notifications are only sent to the number linked to the recipient's Doorcy ID.
More control for administrators and users
Because administrators of the digital reception desk were concerned about whether notifications were reaching users of the digital reception desk, we made sure that administrators can see whether users allow push notifications from Doorcy or not. This gives them the opportunity to optimize the user experience.
Expansion to smartwatches
It is important to note that critical notifications are only available to Apple users. Android users receive a 'regular' push notification or a text message. Since Android does not allow critical notifications, we have come up with a solution. Users with a smartwatch can leave their phone on silent mode but still receive notifications via vibrations on their smartwatch. This offers Android users a similar experience to Apple users.

The digital reception and accompanying push notifications are a good example of the endless options Doorcy offers. This online manager is constantly being developed, creating a versatile and flexible solution that is suitable for a variety of situations. Whether it's a shop, restaurant, office, school, healthcare institution, or other public building, Doorcy can be adapted to the specific needs and wishes of each location. By linking Doorcy to other (existing) systems, it can be easily integrated into different environments.
