More control with the QR code scanner!

Posted on:

We recently introduced the QR code feature in the Doorcy app. With the launch of this feature, Doorcy has become even easier to use. QR codes can be generated at different levels. For example, users can generate a QR code for a location or scene, but also for a single device.

QR codes can be displayed in buildings where Doorcy is integrated. When visitors scan these codes with the QR scanner in the Doorcy app, the command is executed immediately. This allows you to open a gate, turn on a light, or even activate an entire scene.

Additional options
Scanning the QR code can therefore act as a direct command to immediately activate something, but it is also possible to only display various functions after scanning the QR code. In addition, the use of QR codes can be combined with the geofence function. Using these two together further enhances the security of a building.

Generating QR codes is easy in the admin environment of the Doorcy app. Only administrators with the appropriate rights can create these codes. QR codes can be created at different levels, and each code is unique to the device, scene, or location. This code does not change over time. As soon as a user scans the QR code, the options will become visible in the app. Users can then operate this Doorcy. The same applies to devices: when a QR code is attached to a device, the user gains access to this device after scanning the QR code. Controlling scenes via QR codes works slightly differently. When a scene's QR code is scanned, that scene is activated immediately. This means you can only start a scene at a specific location. This functionality gives Doorcy more control over the system.

QR codes in the app
A 'Scan QR' button has been added at the bottom of the app menu. Please note: users must have an account and access to the functionality before this button will be visible. This access can be managed per user in the admin.

Greater insight
This new feature provides administrators (or other users with an admin account) with greater insight. Each QR code generated is linked to a log. This log tracks who scans a QR code and at what time. The log is visible in the admin. This automatically expands Doorcy's capabilities, as it can now also be used as a time registration system, for example.

To access the QR code scanner even faster, an app shortcut has been created for iPhone. By holding the app on your home screen, users can select the 'Scan QR code' shortcut. This shortcut will immediately open the QR code scanner in the app, allowing you to scan and activate the QR code right away. The new feature provides greater ease of use and tighter control.
