Doorcy enables payment via QR code

Pay with your smartphone using a QR code, without the hassle of cash or debit cards. That's what Doorcy's new feature makes possible. From now on, it's possible to pay via Doorcy after scanning a QR code. This eliminates the need for card readers, debit card machines, and barcode scanners. Visitors scan the sticker with the QR code using their smartphone, after which they can pay immediately via iDEAL. This is useful for public toilets, parking garages, or bicycle parking facilities, for example.

With the new feature, as an administrator, you can determine the cost of using your space or device. You can also set how long your visitors have access to the space or device, and whether you want the door to lock automatically after use. You can also see how much you have earned and how often your space or device has been used.

Paying via a QR code works as follows:

  • You generate a QR code via the Doorcy app or website, and you hang it on your door.
  • Doorcy detects that the space or appliance is free and indicates this, for example, with a green light on the fitting.
  • A visitor arrives and scans the QR code with their smartphone.
  • He or she will see a screen on their smartphone with two buttons: "Start with PIN code" and "Pay [amount] immediately to open door" (or another desired name for the scene).
  • The visitor chooses between starting the scene using a PIN code or paying via iDEAL.
  • When he clicks on code and enters it, the door opens.
  • When he clicks on iDEAL and pays, the door will also be opened.
  • In both cases, the preset scene is activated.
  • Afterwards, the scene stops and the actions you have set are reversed.

Endless possibilities

In the example of the public toilet, after payment, the door can be opened and the light can turn on automatically. When someone is inside, they lock the door and a red light on the door handle indicates that the space is occupied. After departure, the light turns off automatically and the door locks until the next paying visitor arrives. The payment function in Doorcy is widely applicable and the possibilities extend beyond public toilets.

Smart management for administrators

Doorcy aims to provide users with smart building management. With Doorcy, users can control doors, lighting, barriers, gates, and other devices via an app. Doorcy is not only a useful tool for users, but also for administrators. Administrators can enter the desired amount in the admin environment. Once an administrator has entered the amount and PIN code, visitors will see these two options after scanning the QR code. If the amount is not entered by the administrator, only the PIN code option will appear. Conversely, only the payment screen will be displayed if no PIN code is entered by the administrator. Visitors will then be automatically redirected to iDEAL.

This allows the administrator to choose the option or options that suit the location. In the admin environment, the administrator can also see how many visitors have used the space or device and what the revenues are.
